The toching of his back was neither harmful or offense and his actions would not be considered self defense and would be on the level of domestic violence. He should not have slapped you in the face and based on what you stated, there was no justification for his actions. It is not likely you would be in trouble or he could use the fact that you tuched his back to get his attention as justification.
