A prior arrest, with no subsequent conviction, while the arrest will appear in a criminal background check, will not be used to enhance any sentence you might receive for this recent incident. While you can be jailed for shoplifting, as this is your first offense it is highly unlikely. You'll likely pay a fine and do some probation.

Disorderly conduct is not going to affect your shoplifting charge. It will show as a disorderly conduct conviction. An apology letter won't help.
