It appears that from 1987 until it was changed in 1997, the statute of limitations on a Texas sexual assault was 10 years. (It became 10 years from the child's 18th birthday in 1997).
My source is William V. Phillips v State of Texas which relates the legislative history of the statute of limitations. Look at the paragraph beginning, "In 1987. . . " )
