I went to a dealership and signed papers to purchase a car.

Customer Question

I went to a dealership and signed papers to purchase a car. I used my trade-in as collateral. Then the salesman asked me for a downpaymemt. I said I didn't have any money to put down. The salesman said just give me a thousand dollars, I said ok. I wote him a "post dated check" and said do not cash this check until this particular date. They put the check in early anyway, and naturally the check bounced. Now the general manager of the car dealership is threating to sue me, unless I pay him the $1,000. My credit union in financing the car for me after all. Can this "general manager" sue me?
