There was a vehicle by the owner. I stopped to talk

Customer Question

There was a vehicle for sale by the owner. I stopped to talk with the owner and told him I was going to go to the bank the next day and get in touch with him later that afternoon. I went to the bank and got the loan and called the owner to tell him I was on my way. He told me he just sold the vehicle after telling me the night before he wasn't going to sell it until he heard from me. Now I'm stuck with a loan and no vehicle. Is there any law that prevents this from happening?

Did you have anything in writing? How much was the car on sale for?
