My car was t by a shredded tire that another vehicle ran

Customer Question

My car was hit by a shredded tire that another vehicle ran over and kicked up. My insurance company says it falls under coalition. Thing is I couldn't avoid hitting it. For several miles there was shredded tire on the interstate. I've read on line that if another car runs over a tire and spits it up and it hits your vehicle it should be covered under comprehensive because it was unavoidable. The insurance company says it's coalition.

Does your policy state that damage from road debris is covered under comprehensive?

It does not appear to be collision because the debris was airborne and hit you, not stationary.
