I know someone who has a baby and she got the bills in her name only then all of a sudden the father gets a letter from a collection agency that has both of their names on it the father went to small claims court to fight it but the mother did not show up now the father got the Bill only in his name and has to pay the bill and the mother does not have to pay anything is this even fair

My apologies but that sounds highly suspect. Do you know of this first-hand, that is, are you the person against whom the bill was entered into? Is the father found to have been the parent through DNA paternity, or he never disputed paternity? Please advise.
