This is a common scam that we see here dozens of times a week. These type of scammers try to convince someone that they have won a lottery or a prize, or a sweepstakes, but that they have to pay some fee, or tax or some other charge in order to be able to claim the prize.
.
If you were actually a winner of some prize, then you NEVER have to pay a fee to receive it. Any taxes or fees would be deducted from the amount you won before you ever receive it.
.
So do not, under any circumstances, give these people a dime or give them any of your personal information like date of birth, social security number, etc. or you could find yourself a victim of identity theft.
