VerifiedI am licensed in New Jersey. The letter is offering a settlement by way of partial payment in satisfaction of the debt. It does not as settlement of the referenced action and account so unless you have other accounts and debts, the payment would be a settlement in full.
Per the letter, timely payment of the $6000 will be settlement for the full balance cited in the letter. If there are no other accounts, this letter is all that is needed for security. If there is a judgment, the creditor should notify the court the judgment is satisfied. If a lawsuit, a discontinuance filed. Either way or if no case commenced, the credit reporting agencies should be given an update that the matter is settled and once paid that it is paid off. Kindly accept my answer.
