Greetings, I'll give rundown on how error codes work on Bobcat machines so you'll know in the future. 2008 should be either a G series or a K series machine (models with hydraulic cooling fan).
On Bobcat machines when you power up the ignition with either key or keypad, before you even start it, the main controller does a self check of the system. You'll see the gauges sweep right and left, and you'll hear one long beep from the alarm. This is for you to verify that the alarm works. After the self test the main controller begins monitoring the system.
At any time when machine is powered up, if you hear three short beeps from the alarm, that's the signal that the main controller is seeing an active fault and the three beeps is to alert you. At that moment, don't shut it down, don't do anything else, instead, right then, press and hold down the headlight button, this will bring up the active codes that caused the three beeps from the alarm.
Also, unlike automotive, Bobcat machines don't "store" codes, they only work with "active" real time codes. Once you shut the machine down (turn off ignition), then power it back up, all previous active codes are wiped clean and the main controller starts afresh.
