If the 5 amp fuse, in the cab fuse panel on units with the enhanced cab and in the engine fuse panel on prior units, fails five to ten seconds after pushing the parking brake release button, check the control valve boom lock solenoid (part number 87445987) and the control valve bucket lock solenoid (part number 87445988).
A malfunctioning or partial shorted solenoid can hold for about five to ten seconds and then heat up sufficiently to blow the fuse.
NOTE: The noteworthy item here is that there is a delay between control activation and fuse failure, whereas most other electrical shorts will produce an immediate fuse failure upon control activation.
September 2007 Update
Failure of the 5 amp fuse, in some units, has been found to be caused by damage to the seat switch wiring harness (part number(###) ###-####. The damage occurs when the seat is moved to the rear and the wire harness is pinched at the left hand seat slide rail. As required, repair or replace the wire harness.
