Customer Question

I have a case 580sr it stalled when emptying the bucket moving into reverse up a slight hill, fuel level was on 1/4, I thought it may have picked up some air, so I bled the system, the unit has a aftermart primer pump installed, I have checked the stop solenoid for continuity and power (but not while trying to start) all ok, I replaced the fuel filter, unit wont start, can you help?

You have fuel all the way to the injection pump? And no output from the pump? Then either the fuel solenoid is not opening the passage to the injector output, or the pump has failed!

You can remove the fuel solenoid and take the plunger and spring from the end, that plugs the passage, and re-install as a dummy, but you will need to be able to kill engine by turning off the fuel or cutting ff the air,

If it does not run with shutoff removed, the pump has failed.

when I loosen one or the injector lines at the pump and turn the starter fuel pulses from the line

This is line going to the injection nozzle?

Is it squirting with pressure or just dribbling?

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Has to be squirting!

to the nozzle, not with pressure
Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

Same thing, fuel shutoff or pump failure!

Expert:  Curtis B. replied 1 year ago.

pressure has to be 2000 psi to open the nozzles.
