I have a D4 1951 with a 2 cyl pony start with a Zenith carb

Customer Question

I have a D4 1951 with a 2 cyl pony start with a Zenith carb I had carb gone through but I don't think they got settings right. What are the proper needle settings? I have been trying to get Pony started for last 2 years. Gone through carb, Mag, Starter (changed to 12 volt) Timing on pony Maybe off yet but I know how to get it right, new drive starter belt. It will run for just a few seconds and at slow speed. I think carb adjustment are not right.

Initial setting would be two rounds out.

But this does not sound like carburetor adjustment.

Have you ran a compression test on the engine?

From what I remember , the mag can't be mounted wrong. So timing would be ok. The fuel supply is gravity, I think. Do you have good fuel flow to the carburetor?

What happens when you swap the spark plug wires?
