Hi my name is***** will be glad to help. Check the throttle control switch as you mentioned and there should be an increase and decrease in OHMs when working the switch in each direction. This will tell you if there is an open in the switch if you loose continuity or have none. If OK and the harness is ok move onto the fuel system checks. These machines due to their age is common to find dry rotted cracking fuel lines sucking in air or a faulty fuel transfer/primer pump. Try running and priming from a separate fuel container by tieing in with a separate new hose to the fuel inlet to bypass the existing tank to pump lines. If the problem goes away it means you are sucking in air somewhere or have a restriction between the tank and pump. If so replace the bad fuel lines and reprime. Also check for a faulty fuel transfer pump. Reply back with the results and if we need to dig deeper into this.
