SN 4jn 00476. Yes I pressed the brake all the way down.. Shut off the master.. Checked fluids except trams. The dipstick won't go back down the tube . The cat is parked out on a forest fire

Too many possible problems to list. Often electrical problems are due to damaged wires or connections.Solenoids do fail but, are not always a problem.

Diagnostic Code ListUse the Caterpillar Monitoring System or the Caterpillar Electronic Technician in order to determine the diagnostic codes for the power train ECM. The information of the diagnostic code for the ECM is transferred via the CAT data link to the Caterpillar Monitoring System. This diagnostic information is shown when the Caterpillar Monitoring System is in the service mode. The module identifier (MID) tells the service person the ECM that is sending the diagnostic code. The MID for the power train ECM is 113. This Service Manual Module refers to only diagnostic codes with a MID of 113. The other Electronic Control Modules ( Engine ECM, and Caterpillar Monitoring System) have an MID that is listed on the Electrical System Schematic. The service manual for the particular system has the information for troubleshooting the diagnostic codes that do not have a MID of 113. This list only covers issues for the transmission, steering and brakes. The monitor has another whole set of separate fault codes. (This is not likely your issue though)

If I was going out to this machine, I would carry a complete service manual and the 4C-8195 control tool to see and test the system. It is possible to perform most repairs without a laptop.The control tool and a manual is the best tool for this machine.

The list below is the most common issues to look for when the Brake Fault Light is on.Braking System Status (6) - The power train ECM activates a warning for the brake system. The warning categories are listed below:Warning category 1 is activated when the brakes are out of adjustment. The alert indicator for braking system status (6) will FLASH. The operator must check the brakes or the operator must check the service brake pedal switch at the earliest opportunity. The electrical circuits that can cause this warning are listed below: The brake backup pole of the parking brake switch (CID 0618) The temperature sensor for the steering system oil (CID 0075) The parking brake solenoid (CID 0681) ECM (CID 0254) Transmission oil temperature sensor (CID 0177) Warning category 3 is activated when a diagnostic code is present for an input of the brake system or for an output of the brake system. The indicator for the brake system (6) will FLASH. The action lamp will FLASH and the action alarm will SOUND. The operator should immediately stop the machine. The operator should immediately shut off the engine. A diagnostic code will be logged for the problem that is present. The diagnostic code must be corrected before machine operation is resumed. See Testing and Adjusting, "Troubleshooting Diagnostic Codes". The electrical circuits that can cause this warning are listed below: Service brake switch (CID 0298) Position sensor for the brake pedal (CID 0468) Secondary brake solenoid (CID 0722) ON/OFF pole of the parking brake switch (CID 0070) Solenoid valve for the left brake (CID 0689) Solenoid valve for the right brake (CID 0690) Harness code (CID 0650) ECM (CID 0254)
