That is cold by you ...........
The way we changed these batteries, have to tip it to the side,
and bring it out long wise, on it side
some times it will leak a little acid, but not often,
when it does, sprinkle Baking soda on it

We have tried tilting it every which way for four hours and cannot get it out. The hoses are stiff and in the way. We have tried to lift it out the top also to no avail. Is tilting it the only way and if so and we can't get it out, what next?

Yes tilting it is only way,
Hate to say it , needs to get into a warm place , so you can move hoses
