bradco 8MD I just replaced the hydralic pump and blew the back hoe hoses. I replaced the hoses and now hydraulic fluid is shooting out a metal tube at the back of the valve body. BTW its on a JD 850.

I'll wait, I got a copy of the parts list, and I'll see if I can work something out. I think it's a pressure release but don't understand why it's blowing off.

Hi my name isXXXXX will try to help. Could you please give a brief but detailed description of the chain of events that took place here. Also, Was there metal/debris in your system from the pump failure and was it flushed properly? If not than it is likely that some of this debris has pushed through your system and may be hanging up some valves. Let me know and I will help you the best I can with this.

Hi Dan

Chain of events

Started losing pressure to the point that the loader on the front wouldn't work any more. Diagnosed bad hydro pump. Replaced 9cc pump with 11cc pump (optional), flushed system, cleaned screens, added spin on hydro filter to system. Used loader for a couple days, attached backhoe to dig out some stumps, Hoe worked fine until a boom hose blew. I figure the tractor and the hoe are from 1986 so I pulled all the hoses from the hoe attachment and had new ones made. Cleaned everything while I had it apart. Power washed the control assy, primed some parts and sprayed some JD green in places. Valve assy never came apart, outlets for hoses plugged before I cleaned. Attached new hoses. Started tractor and pulled the divertor valve to hoe position. As soon as I did that hydro fluid started shooting out the pipe. Checked hoses, and couplings, all fine and in the right place. Is there a way to check the overpressure relief valve? It's like a rats nest of plumbing in there. While I don't have an issue with working in that area, if there is an easy way to test or replace the op valve I'd certainly appreciate it.

Ok thanks for the info. Your relief valve cartridges just thread into the control valve. Remove the assemblies as you would a bolt but as an assembly. Do not touch the adjustment screws. Inspect each cartridge for any metal/debris holding the valve open or stuck closed. You should be able to use a blunt punch or screw driver to move the poppet in the center. There will be spring tension you will have to overcome but the valve should open and they should move freely and not bind. Inspect all the o rings and back up rings and replace if spit, flattened, or cut. Also, remove the end caps on your main control valve and check each spool manually that they move freely and there are no broken springs or retainers on the ends of the spools. I hope this helps

Hi Dan, when you mentioned pressure release valve I decided to start at the beginning. The first valve I looked into was the main system relief valve under the seat since it was the easiest to start with. After pulling the bolt and extracting the spring and ball assy I found the spring to be so packed with crud that it wasn't allowing the ball to open. I pulled this apart and cleaned the unit. Started the tractor for a few seconds to blow some oil out the valve, and get rid of what ever was in there. Put everything back together, and the hoe worked, no leaks, no pressure release. I'm figuring the system pressure got too high for the hoe section. I didn't notice any issues with the loader section. Maybe it's more forgiving to overpressure. I will go thru the valve assemblies this weekend as you suggested. If one valve got plugged I'm sure others may not be far behind.
