i have a question related to both iPhone storage and iCloud storage. I have some extremely important chats/photos that have been stored in Whatsapp. However, as my iPhone is only 64GB, my Whatsapp can't be backed up due to the fact that my iPhone storage is full. Originally, I was planning to wait until the new release of the next generation iPhone so that I can have it replaced with a phone that has larger iPhone storage. However, while I was using Whatsapp yesterday, the app unexpectedly crashed, forcing me to reinstall the app. Once I've done it all of its app data has been completely erased and I am totally devastated. However, when I check my iCloud storage - last time it was backed up was the 3rd of August 2020 -, it says it has about 242GB stored out of 2TB. I have now turned off back up because I don't want whatever is in there to be wiped out and replaced with what the next iCloud backup will be, a whopping 3GB!! I have previously upgraded my iCloud storage as a back up for my apps and datas. I had to do it for Whatsapp because that has taken almost pretty much all of my iPhone's storage - yes that's how large it is - so I purchased more iCloud storage just to be safe. Now, I was wondering, would it be possible for me to still be able to recover my latest data? I've gotta admit I do find it rather confusing that while my Whatsapp has been constantly rejecting the idea to perform a backup due to my limited phone storage, my iCloud has been constantly backing up. There is absolutely no way my iCloud alone would have 242GB in it if not because of Whatsapp. The things I have in there are very sentimental and I do hold it very close to my heart. My friend has offered me his spare phone with 500GB of iPhone storage to try and restore my data. However, before I do that, I would like to seek for professional help first cause it's going to be a very long process for an iPhone to upload 242GB worth of materials.
