Since an update some...

Since an update some time ago my computer has had troubles with shutdown. When I shutdown the computer the shutdown screen rotating circle stops after ten seconds roughly, and freezes. This lasts for at least ten minutes before the screen goes black and after a long period of time returns it to the logon screen where the password ***** This is becoming frustrating. Happens even with restart.
