Installed Office 365 home and does not recognize or open xls files when clicked on from file manager

Technician's Assistant: What computer or device are you having trouble syncing?

There is no problem syncing, all my files are synced in one drive the problem is opening xls files do you have a patch for thisÉ

Technician's Assistant: What's the brand and model of your computer? And the Operating System (OS)?

It happens on several machines this is an acer laptop but also happens on a new dell laptop all in windows 10 evidently the xls opening problem is a known problem

Not sure it's an old Aspire with i7

Technician's Assistant: What have you tried so far with your Aspire? Have you installed any updates recently?

All windows updates have been installed are there any office updates for office 365?

The problem is only for opening xls files from within the file managers but I have a lot of them
