My surface pro installed updates last night, and now I can't connect to the internet.

Technician's Assistant: Are you able to connect using an ethernet cable?

Ummmm....everything is wireless.

Technician's Assistant: Which lights are colored and/or blinking on your router?

I have no idea...but obviously I'm online right now communicating with you through my Mac.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Network Expert to know before I connect you?

Click start, type in

ncpa.cpl

press enter

Right click on wifi, select connect

Choose your network, connect and tell me if you then get internet

Let me know the results please

No that didn't work. It says Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuration

No, none of this worked. I had to find a way into the reset area, and put the device back on factory settings. Now I'm connected.

ok, but we had steps to do between the last instructions and the reset.. I was just ruling out the most common causes.
