Trying to activate install-cannot get system to accept valid new password

Technician's Assistant: What exactly are you having trouble accessing?

I have downloaded a new install and am attempting to activate new purchase of full-up system

Technician's Assistant: What's the brand and model of your computer? And the Operating System (OS)?

IMac;OS 10.11.08

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on with your computer? What have you tried so far?

I did an install about 10 minutes age,then followed (obtuse) instructions. Got to the point they asked for password, which I generated, Then it rejected it several times even though I had the required 8 characters, including an upper case, lower case, special character and number.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Computer Expert to know before I connect you?

How do I get my system activated???????
