DELL/inspiron desktop/Win 10

Technician's Assistant: When did you purchase your Dell? What troubleshooting have you tried?

2 weeks ago. I've uninstalled and re-installed HP envy 5660 all-in-one printer since windows 10 updates a few days ago. my printer appears in control panel but when I select it, it doesn't "stick".

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Computer Expert to know before I connect you?

the printer does a test page from hp scan Dr., but software (Excel) won't recognize the printer. Printer appears in control panel, but when selected it does not become the default printer. It's wired USB connection.
