Razer blade stealth. usb ports are functioning properly

Yes, i ran sudo apt-get upgrade and sudo apte-get dist-upgrade

If you right click on your desktop and go into the properties do you see the monitor there?

when I install the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software (v.1.3.54). According to this article,

the installation is supposed to run
"Starting DLM upstart job
displaylink start/running, process 3397"
however, my installation stops at "adding udev rule for DisplayLink DL - 3xxx/5xxx devices

I know that 16.04 uses systemd instead of upstart but nonetheless nothing runs after "adding udev rule"

Hi,
I'm trying to connect an ASUS MB169B+ with my Razer Blade Stealth laptop running Ubuntu 16.04.
I verified using other hardware that my USB ports are working, and my monitor connects to my Mac.After installing the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software (v.1.3.54), my laptop is able to detect the monitor and I am able to drag and drop to the new monitor and both screens appear when I take screenshots. However, my ASUS monitor continues to show only a black screen and the mouse on my laptop continuously flickers.One thing to note, when installing the DisplayLink driver, according to this installation guide,
