I have a Epson workforce 3640 that I have connected to my laptop. It will not print. Please help!!! Do you have a phone number to speak to me personally!
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Epson is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: It is a Epson WF 3640 purchased last year from Costco at the Madison Hgts, MI store.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: A PC specifically a Dell vostro 1500.
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: The printer has not been working for a while. I have not had time to contact anyone during business hours. It has worked in the past.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I had my wireless router changed but entered the new information. The "soon will need a printer cartridge" light is also blinking.

Hello and thank you for contacting JustAnswer, my name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you today.

Sounds like we need to uninstall and reinstall your printer drivers, have you tried that yet?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I have. but may have done something wrong.

Are you connecting it through Wifi or wired?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Can you please remove the constant begging for money prompts so that we can connect my printer?

Please ignore those, as they are automated by the website

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK can you call me to walk me through what to do?

There would be an extra fee for phone support, but I can gladly walk you through it on here

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK fine... can we begin?

Certainly. One moment while I type out some instructions for you

Does your laptop use windows 10?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No it does not!

Do you know what version of windows it has?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Windows 7 Ultimate
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Are you there?

First we need to uninstall all instances of the currently installed drivers.

On your laptop:

  1. Click on the yellow folder icon on the bottom of your screen (If there is not icon, click the start menu and click on "Computer" skip step 2 if you do this)
  2. In the window that opens click on "Computer" in the list on the left side
  3. At the top of your screen, click "Uninstall or Change a Program"
  4. In the search bar of the windows that opens, type "Epson" and uninstall all of the results that come up.

Please let me know when this is done so we can proceed to the next step

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I am removing all Epson related material correct?

That is correct. We need to remove it all and start fresh

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Is there a way I can remove the files more quickly?

Just through the uninstall method we are doing

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK everything is removed!

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click on "Printers and Devices"
  3. Verify that the epson is not showing up here
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
It is not showing up. Can I delete former printers from here while we are doing the install?

You sure can

Next, from here download the "Drivers and Utilities Combo Package"

Once downloaded, install them

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Should I download the firmware also?

Just the Combo package for now

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
It is done. I am going to begin the set-up.

Okay, let me know if you have any questions

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
When I went to set up it says it cannot find my printer!!

Is your printer connected wired or wireless?

One moment while I type some instructions

  3. Select WiFi Setup
  4. Select Wi-Fi Setup wizard
  5. Select your network

  7. Press the enter button to confirm
  8. Select Proceed
  9. Press OK
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK it is repopulating

Okay, let me know if you run into any issues

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK it printed a sheet saying it is OK. Help me with changing the ink cartridge and I want to print something as a test.
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I also need to check the scan function.

Let's make sure it is working fine before changing the ink. You finished the setup on your computer?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I did!

Go ahead and try the test print real fast, then we will change the ink

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
OK it copied OK

Okay great, one moment while I type out how to change the ink

  1. Turn the printer on
  2. Lift up the entire scanner portion
  3. You will see the ink cartridge cover, lift up on that
  4. Pinch in on the tab of the cartridge you are replacing and lift it straight up
  5. Shake your new cartridge 4-5 times gently while it is still in the wrapping
  6. Remove it from the package and remove the yellow tape
  7. Insert it into the cartridge holder
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 for each cartridge needing replaced
  9. Close the cartridge cover
  10. On your printer's screen, select "Check"
  11. Once the check is done, close the scanner
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I cannot print this sheet of paper!!

Which sheet? Did you not change the ink yet?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I am writing out the instructions now so that I may change the cartridge. However, I tired to copy and print without success.
