I started using my Macbook laptop and the first reply to an e-mail said it needed my password ***** I don't know it and don't have it?? How do I get it?

I went to my e-mail dropdowns and it was being used but x'd out and I don't see any place to check for a new one. Now I went to bresnan.net-email settings and got this.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?

Yes, I sometimetimes get the message cannot connect with this server and all I have is bresnan.

I get my emails and reply to them just fine on my Mac but only receive them on my MacBook -cannot reply to them.
