I just wanted to us the computer and got a big message

Customer Question

I just wanted to us the computer and got a big message saying it was from Microsoft and I should call the number immediately to avoid allowing people to get into my personal data like credit cards. I didn't trust it so got out. Can you check to see if I have a horrible virus? I do have a HP Smaftfriend membership.
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact model of your computer? And what operating system are you running?
Customer: HP S2031
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Just one from a media thing through DriverUpdate
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: It has seemed awfully slow and frequently when I click on something to pursue it further I get a warning screen about a virus.

Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist. Please don't call that number as it is

100% a scam. Microsoft, nor any other reputable company, does business that way. Did you allow anyone to connect to your computer

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
No I did not because I was suspicious.

Thank you and good morning. It was wise not to allow a connection. I don't believe you have a horrible virus

but from your description it sounds like some malware has made its way on to your machine. These things most certainly

could be the cause of the slowness of the computer that you mention.

Can we do a remote session and I'll clean this up?
