Hi, thank you for contacting JustAnswer.com. My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

What computer maker name and model (roughly at least) do you have, that won't adjust the brightness of the display?

I presume it is a laptop, but correct me if I'm wrong, please... and let me know this information, for with it I can answer your question, I think.

Ok thanks

Would setting the brightness to a given value and keeping it that way most of the time be OK? or would you want to adjust the brightness ad-hoc and on a fairly frequent basis?

Also, what monitor are you using?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Hi, Russell would you want to adjust the brightness ad-hoc and on a fairly frequent basis it seems to be missing from windows 10
Expert:  Russell H. replied 7 months ago.

Try going into the Power Options.

There is often a settings for monitor or screen brightness there. But, it may be that only applies to laptops, and doesn't work on Desktops, where the screen is a separate device. On a Desktop PC, you may simply have to adjust the screen brightness using the monitor's own controls.

Let me know, please, what you see and what you find out.

I see.

True, there's no brightness setting there.

I guess it might be that's only a feature on laptops.
