Is the remote new? you have indicated that, OK, but how new is it, in the sense: has it ever worked before? or is this its initial installation that hasn't gotten working yet?
You need to not so much 'load MyHarmony software - somehow that was a wrong instruction - but rather, go to the website
and register there to create an account - if you already have not gotten such an account registered with www.myharmony.com - and then follow instructions to 'register' it for configuration (- It's a loose term, it's done by connecting your remote to the computer once you are logged in to www.MyHarmony.com, and configuring it for each device you want it to control)....
