  • First Make sure that you're typing the correct uppercase or lowercase characters.
  • If the password ***** shows a question mark, click it to display a password ***** that might help you to remember.
  • Try to log in without a password. If that works, you can then add a password ***** following the steps :
  • Try to log in with the Apple ID password ***** you use for iCloud.

If you still cannot login :

  • Shutdown the computer.
  • Start the computer, then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
  • When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
  • Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
  • Move the mouse pointer to the menubar at the very top of the screen, click "Utilities” and then select "Terminal" from the dropdown.

  • Terminal window will appear.
  • Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
  • Reset Password ***** window will open.
  • Quit Terminal.
  • Select Macintosh HD, if not already.
  • Click inside the pop-up box under “Select user account”.
