Hi ,

Welcome to Justanswer .

This seems not the sticky key but the data cable connects to motherboard from keyboard is faulty and needs the whole keyboard replacement .

You can buy one from below for 31 bucks .

Would an external keyboard not function correctly though if plugged in, it has same problem too, thanks

No As long as the onboard keyboard is faulty and connected the external keyboard will also behave incorrectly .

Thanks
