I have a new laptop which I protected with a password. Now my password ***** ***** working and I cannot reset it.
JA: When did you last reset your username and password?
Customer: I just bought the laptop like 3 days ago!
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Not that I know of.
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I just need to reset the password ***** access my laptop!

On your login screen does it display you email address along with your user name

and a place to enter the password?

Are you being told the password ***** ***** or that the laptop is offline?

Expert:  Byron replied 10 months ago.

If your login screen shows your email address, that password ***** pretty easily be reset.

If only your username shows on the screen the computer will need to be factory reset.

This will allow you to re-create a user account and password ***** get back in to the machine.
