What is the make/model of the tv?What are you seeing on the tv currently? Snow? blue screen? A "no signal" message?
The tv issue is not related to your cable connection.
Look at the back of the tv - where exactly is the cord that is connected to the directv box connected there? hdmi1? hdmi2?
That is exactly what I was getting at, either a loose/missing cord, or the tv set to the wrong input.
Then you are on the wrong input,
so where did you plug it in? If hdmi2, for example, then take the tv remote and press the source/input/video button, repeatedly until you get to hdmi2 (or wherever plugged into)
