I am getting an Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: Gateway
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Great question...it's my daughter's computer...she's not very forthcoming with what she does with the computer
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?

If it says "no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" and no BIOS changes were made, then your boot device has errors and will continue to degenerate.

That having been said, if your daughter is "not very forthcoming," then she may very well have messed with the BIOS settings. I cannot help you with family issues. Sorry.
