I have read your comments on
regarding Blackberry Desktop 6.1.
However, my blackberry desktop software 10 version [i.e. BlackBerry Link] stopped launching yesterday. I get a message that "Blackberry Desktop software has stopped working" and it doesn't open at all (it was fine last days!). Most interesting, however, the ‘Blackberry Blend’ program runs perfectly!
I uninstalled the complete ‘BlackBerry 10 Desktop Software (Blend,Link,Drivers)’. After restarting my PC I additionally deleted manually deleted all remaining folders related to ‘BlackBerry’ or ‘Research In Motion’ [e.g., C:\Program Files\Research In Motion
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\BlackBerry Desktop] as you suggested in your above link]
Then I re-installed BlackBerry -Link using the original ‘BlackBerryDesktopSoftware_1.2.0.52_B59.exe’ file downloaded from BlackBerry - still with the same error message and still with ‘BlackBarry Blend’ running and connecting to my phone perfectly!I'm using Windows 7 professional, 64-bit. What can I do?

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.

It's generally best, ***** ***** installs of software, to just let the Uninstall routine do what it is meant to do, and to not delete manually.

However, that obviously did not help the problem you are asking about, and I don't think it caused the problem either.

What I suggest is:

1. that you use the Uninstall routines for *all* Blackberry software, whether working or not working at this time. Blackberry Desktop, and Blackberry Blend too. They might be interfering with each other.

2. then, when that's done, restart your computer. This clears memory of files cache etc. And can help.

3. then, from a known good reliable source - not an old CD/disc, but preferably a modern, updated, and genuinely authorized and standard source - get a download to install Blackberry Desktop, and install it.

4. and see if it works, before reinstalling Blend, etc.
