This looks like a bios password. how did it come up without getting it activated.

This is a bios password ***** its a patented lock by the manufacturer you can only get it unlocked from the Asus service center which requires special unlocking hardware and tools to unlock the laptop. You would need the original purchase invoice or bill to identify your ownership and if the computer is under one year warranty you will not be charged or else there would be a nominal fee to get it unlocked.
