how did you dried it and did you open the laptop to dry it up.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I used a hair dryer as well as turning it over (upside down)

soda contains sugar and caffeine which dont get dried up till it open and cleaned with isopropyle alcohol. The stcikyness remains and the moisture as well which must have fried the main motherboard and the keyboard.

I take it that it is ruined

No it may not completely be dead you will have to take the laptop to a repair technician and get it repaired may be only the keyboard is fried and the computers shuts itself down as soon as it detected a short circuit you may have to only get the keyboard replaced.

Will this be expensive?
Expert:  Michelle replied 1 year ago.

Get the laptop checked from a repair tech he will tell you the estimated repair cost and if its exceeds $200 then you may opt for a new laptop.
