Two lenovo thinkpads - one upgraded to Win10 while we slept

Customer Question

two lenovo thinkpads - one upgraded to Win10 while we slept (without permission!) and the second upgraded on purpose after a week of uneventful use of the first unit. Using first unit now.
On second unit, within 24 hours, internet wouldn't stay connected more than 5 minutes. restored to Win7 but it never started again (definitely within the 30 days).
System restore was turned off (turned it on under Win 10)
Lenovo restore warns data will be lost - not sure exactly what that means.
tried using command screen; ran bootrec commands, no change.
Finally restarted with safe mode. Was planning to copy critical data files out and run Lenovo restore.
Tell me there's a better way.

The tablet will not boot up at all unless it's in safe mode?

If you can get to the command prompt screen, try cd c:\ enter then chkdsk /f
It's looking like it will need reloaded, especially if its back to Windows 7.

Windows 10 has a feature to just reload the operating system and keep your files.
