VerifiedWelcome to Justanswer.com, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you. By start screen, do you mean you see the windows sign in screen where it asks for your password? Or can you make it past that where it shows the desktop background and icons?
Those forced windows 10 updates can be a terrible problem to fix sometimes. windows 10 says it checks to see if the computer is compatible with windows 10. It checks the basic components, but it cant check the motherboard or bios itself. and a lot of times it will say your compatible and will update, even if your computer manufacturer doesnt have a single windows 10 driver listed.. Meaning when the update to 10 completes, your VGA ( display ) Ethernet and wireless simply wont work. ( no device can work without a driver) Your daughters cmputer does have windows 10 drivers listed.. So it must have simply been a faulty update. Maybe her antivirus was still on when the update started.. Or maybe it was just a bad update, which happens quite often. My advice, disable automatic windows updates on every machine you use. When you need updates, or think you need an update. Or, about every 2 months.. Run an antivirus scan first, run the sfc /scannow command first. Then clean boot the computer https://windowsinstructed.com/clean-boot-windows-windows/, and only then download and install any needed updates to windows.
