Customer Question

I just received a phone call from an individual claiming to represent Windows and telling me my computer was being hacked without my knowledge. I would not go online to let them tell me how they were going to fix the problems - this sounded like a scam. Do you know if the call was actually from a representative of Windows?

I am the person that will be helping you today.

This is an all too common scam in which the scammers lie and say you need their services. Essentially, how it works is that you go to website and allow them to remote in. They may pretend as if they did something and then charge you or install their own virus and demand payment to remove it. In short, as long as you didn't give them any banking information, you are safe. They are most definitely scammers. If you wish, you may want to contact your local authorities and report them.
