Its rare it will be dirt or anything under them causing this, so before we do this I want to rule out some other causes.

When did the problem start and which version of windows is this?

I have windows 10, and it's been awhile -- not really sure -- maybe a year. It's primarily 4, 7, 9 and 0 and the comma key. It wouldn't be so bad except I can't really use the uppercase portion of it either. Very annoying

Can you press the windows key + R and type in msconfig and press enter

Click on the Services Tab and click "Hide All Microsoft Services"

Then click Disable All

Click ok, restart and let me know if the buttons now work please

Okay, I did that. Didn't fix the keyboard issue and now my laptop isn't detecting the wireless connection so I'm on my phone

ok, repeat the instructions and choose Enable All.

ok, it should have come back as we undid the last step (though that step should never have lost you wireless in the first place)

Remove the power to your wifi router, wait 5 minutes, connect the power, restart the Laptop and tell me if it appears please.

ok, may have taken some time for the wireless to appear.

Can you do the following please as I want you to make a new test account to see if the problem is occurring there

  1. Select the Start button, and then select Settings.

  2. Select Accounts > Other users.

  3. Under Other users, select Add someone else to this PC.

  4. At the bottom of the page, select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.

  5. At the bottom of the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.

  6. Enter a name for the new account. If you want this person to sign in with a password, enter and verify the password, add a password ***** and then select Next.

  7. Select Finish.

ok, this will all be part of the problem.

Do you have data on the Laptop thats not backed up? As the simplest solution is a reinstall of windows. We can attempt to repair it, but if you do not have data on their not backed up and minimal programs installed, this would be the best route.

Please let me know.

ok, bear in mind you may have to in the end, but we will attempt the repair first.

Press the windows key + X and click on command prompt (admin)

A black window will open.

Type in it

sfc /scannow

press enter and when it has completed, type in

chkdsk /r

Press enter.

It will give a message "the type of the file system is NTFS cannot lock current drive.

chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts y/n" Say Y, press enter and restart the computer.

Please note, while this normally only takes 10 minutes to run, it can take at times number of hours if windows encounters many issues. If this is occurring it is critical to let this complete as it means you have corruption on the hard drive that it needs to fix. Even if it looks like the scan is not progressing, it is, please just let it run to completion. Windows will then start when it has.

Then tell me if the buttons work

My computer won't even come up now. It stalls out at the welcome and says it needs to restart. What did you do? All I needed was a few keys fixed. This is turning into a nightmare!

We are running a windows error scan to check for errors. As it was not even allowing you to create a new user account there are a number of issues with it.

Restart the computer please if thats what it is asking you to do.

I sign in, the welcome sign comes up, it stalls out, and I get a blue screen that says my pc ran into an issue and it's restarting. Now I have a black screen saying reboot and select your proper boot device or insert boot media

ok, that means your hard drive crashed.

Can you remove the power cable then hold the power button down for 60 seconds then release.

Then connect the power, turn it on and tell me if it then starts please.

ok, this is pointing to an issue with your mainboard, explains the button issue, why we cannot create a new user account, run a windows error check or a system restore and why it is not running now.

We will need to attempt a reinstall of windows to confirm if the mainboard is at fault, we will choose to keep your files but your programs you will need to insrtalll again.

Go back to the Advance Recovery and choose Reset My PC

Choose the option to keep your files, then let it complete.

It can take some time, and once done, tell me how it now operates please.
