Just so you can know a little about me, I am a certified HP warranty technician and I work in the Central IT Depot at AEP.
you said that the previous tech you worked with created more problems. What additional problems were created?
If it is in fact a tower you should try power cycling it...to do this unplug the pc and hold the power button for 30 seconds then plug the pc back in and test...if that doesn't work please let me know
