what is the error you experience while you try to delete files or photos.

I try to delete photos and a little pic of a camera comes up...

The picture file must be corrupted or its on a read only format try to right click on the photo you want to delete and from the drop down try to delete it and if its greyed out and cant delete then you left click on the drop down and check the properties and let me know the file format.
