While trying to mail some jpg pictures a screen popped up

Customer Question

while trying to mail some jpg pictures a screen popped up saying my computer had been hit by a virus that could wipe out memory. The note claimed to be from a microsoft security location. I interacted with the service a long time by telephone including giving him control over my monitor. He said he could eliminate the virus in about an hour with a new anti-virus program. I asked the cost; $200/1yr, $300/2/yr/. $400/liftetime.
getting more and more suspicious, I asked for his name, the company name and phone number. he said he was "peter", the company was microsoft security and phone number: *********** ext 210.
our conputer is a lenovo desktop type/mt. running windows 7 at 64kb.
I ended the call with no purchase agreement.
At this moment (8:30 EST) our computer, after reboot seems to be running well.
Should we do anything else?
Should we upgrade Microsoft Security?

The phone call/company is a scam and your computer is infected with a virus. I would be more than happy to help you remove the virus so I am sending a remote services offer so that I can connect to your computer to remove it.
