I am using windows 10 and would like to know how to disable

Customer Question

I am using windows 10 and would like to know how to disable the Windows Groove Music app. I tried going to settings and selected default music apps and changed Groove Music to Windows Media Player , BUT Groove Music keeps coming up any time I try and play music from my playlists.
Can we cut off the head of this SNAKE???

Hello,

I am the person that will be helping you today.

How exactly are you opening your playlists?

I will be standing by.

Thank you,
Jason

Use either Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player.

Is the item in the playlist that opens the Groove Music app when activated a local music file or a streaming music file?

Local

Thank you for the update.

Please, follow the instructions below to solve your problem:

- Go to folder in which one of the music files are stored.

- Right click that music file and click Open With, Choose a Program.

- Put a check in the box that says to 'always' open with.

- Choose "Windows Media Player" in the list.

- Click Ok.

That should have fixed the problem. Please, close and re-open Windows Media Player and verify that it is working.

I just tried that on a coupe of different songs ,but when the box opens it says play with Groove Music or Windows Media Player - it does not give you the choice of "Always open this file with.........".

In the old days there was a place you could go to that listed file suffices and a choice of opening programs. I guess windows 10 doesn't have such an easy place????
