Had version of windows 7 and had to replace computer. tried

had version of windows 7 and had to replace computer. tried to install and it wants the product key. I went and got a newer version of windows 8.1 but can't install because computer is still stuck on windows 7 product kept input how do I get the computer to boot from dvd

try turning it off and when you power it back up

keep hitting the F12 button and it should give you a boot menu where you can select the dvd as the boot device

if that does not work you need to get into the setup bios.

as it turns on it should show you a key to hit for setup

in there you can go to the boot options menu and set the dvd drive to be the primary boot device
