Ok how long have you had this machine. If you just got this machine you are probably using windows 8 if not you would have a bar at the bottom to click on a start menu on the lower left corner. Do you see anything like that?

You actually do have windows media player in windows 8: Here is a link to a youtube video to show you how to get to it.

It does have the ability to burn and rip music.
