Power up Gateway NV53 and get no Gateway Logo - blank screen
Thanks for your question. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I look forward to assisting you.

I was not clear if you did this step, so want to do this first please to rule out residual power as the problem.

Can you remove the battery and power cable from the Gateway.

Hold the power button down for 1 minute and release.

Then put the battery back in and connect the power cable and turn on the Gateway.

Let me know the results please

Thank you

Yes - did that per the manual

Was running great then no boot.

Cannot get any display regardless of F8 or F12 when starting

Tried using TV as display

How can I tell if the drive is dead?

The hard drive and data on it will be ok Doug.

Are you hearinng any fans at all running?

Does it recognise the charger being plugged in (via one of the lights)?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Charger works cause saw red (low) indicator go to blue

Only other indicator is blue ON when press start button

Have to hold start button to crash to stop fan

Its the mainbaord or processor that has failed. I cant be anymore specific as you need to have a hardware diagnostics run on it to pinpoint the fault, but I deal with this problem a lot, and it is nearly always the motherboard.

It is not the power supply as you would get none of the lights, plus we know the charger is ok.

The battery is also not the cause, as you already tried it with the battery out.

I am sorry about this and you are going to have to return the gateway to have the diagnostics run so they can confirm the motherboard as the fault. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.

As I mentioned, your data is ok, this is not affecting your hard drive (you would have different symptoms) so once it is running again, you can access your data as you were before.

I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.
