Could be an issue with some specific routers

Vonage mode ==> Port3 on my ASUS RT-N56U

solid green light on port3 on my ASUS router / solid blue light on Voange modem as well

Click the Advanced Setting button near the left of the page.


You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click WAN.

Enable DMZ: Currently it's set to No

Please set it to yes and set the ip address to 192.168.1.166

i did enable that and added ip of the vonage and saved the settings

my problem is i can't even ping the vonage modem(192.168.1.166) from my pc

Are you sure the ip for the vonage adapter is 192.168.1.166

Customer:

yes it is, i have only 2 pc connected and i can verify that ip as well

Can you view the DHCP table from the router's admin interface?

And check what the IPs are for the clients connected?

192.168.1.100 / 192.168.1.103 - pc

Customer:

192.168.1.102 - my ipad

Is the Virtual Server enabled or disabled?

don't see the menu of virtual server

under WAN, could see if "WAN - virtual server/port forwarding"

all i could see on that menu is port forwarding only

Does the vonage adapter has static ip or dynamic ip

not confident about that, since it's getting 192.168, assuming it's DHCP only

The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.1.166 is taking too long to respond.

you mean vonage?

Yes, something wrong with the vonage device.

Customer:

on vonage: connected to port (blue colour, where we see the Internet globe icon), other end of the cable is connected to port 3 on ASUS router, and port3 is Solid Green light on ASUS and Sold Blue light on Vonage

so, only two options you are saying for vonage,

Regardless of the port forwarding and DMZ - Vonage should respond when you open it's up address in your browser.

yes, i did reset as well just now, but still can't ping the vonage ip 192.168.1.166

looks like problem with base set, now it's working, but now should i enable firewall back again, enable port forwarding and disable the DMZ and try ?

Can you add 192.168.1.166 to DMZ again and see if you can access it 192.168.1.166

PING may be blocked, could be AP Isolation issue and the reason why the site may not be opening could be related to forwarding on 80 or 8080.
