My cursor on my Dell 1750 Inspiron is stuck, and I paid Dell

This answer was rated:

My cursor on my Dell 1750 Inspiron is stuck, and I paid Dell support $139.95 to get it unstuck a little over a month ago. Can I just fix this myself? I read something about an enable button, but I don't know what that is.

My name is James

Welcome to Just Answer

Do you mean the touchpad is not working ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes. The cursor remains in the middle of the screen, frozen.

Look on the F Keys

You will see a picture of a Square and what looks like a finger.

Let me know when you see it
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Should I start the computer in safe mode, or regular? It's turned off now.

do you see the key i mean
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No. I don't see that, but the F6 key is blank on my computer.

ok no Problem Let me know when the Laptop is started ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It's up, but now I don't see the cursor at all.

Ok thanks

Do you have External Mouse you can use with the machien so i can send you a link and connect to it and have a look at it ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No, I don't. Well, I have one attached to this computer (wireless) but I don't know where the driver is now.

Press the Touchpad Disable/Enable key,
(the key is located to the right of the <F12> key)

Do you see this key ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Sorry about the delay, but this computer went offline. I see the key, pressed it, and a box came up that said my touchpad has been enabled. Wow. And now the cursor seems to work. Should I do this in the future? Dell never said a word about this key.

Yes that is correct it will enable and disable the touchpad
